Innovative Quant Solutions, LLC was founded in 2004 as an independent financial research firm that provides extremely high quality quantitative stock analysis and customized quantitative research to investment managers.

IQS's research incorporates sophisticated algorithms, high level mathematics, and proprietary weighting schemes to provide hedge fund and institutional equity managers with the tools they need to evaluate stocks for inclusion in their portfolios, validate their current positions, or develop new products.

IQS's stock ranking and research processes were developed by Ian D. Arvin, CFA, president of the firm, who started in the investment industry in 1996, managing U.S. equities, developing innovative research techniques, and designing new products.

Recognized as a math prodigy by age four, Ian has always been the fastest and most accurate in computation. He earned a bachelor's in applied and engineering physics from Cornell University and did two years of research in laser physics before moving into finance and becoming an actuary for clients with defined benefit pension plans.

Ian earned an MBA at the MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing in financial engineering under Professor Andrew Lo. Ian has worked for Franklin Portfolio Associates and Independence Investments, in the roles of senior portfolio manager, principal, director of new product development, and research analyst. At Independence, he led the design and implementation of a state-of-the-art valuation system and developed sector-based stock selection models. He also designed an equity product that varies the portfolio's aggressiveness in relationship to the volatility of the market, cementing his interest in quantitative research.

Ian founded Innovative Quant Solutions, LLC to provide institutional and hedge fund managers with extremely high quality quantitative equity models that incorporate the dynamic nature of the market.

Ian is a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a member of the CFA Institute, the Boston Security Analysts Society, the Chicago Quantitative Alliance, an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Ian is an avid sportsman, playing tennis, basketball, golf, and skiing. He is an "Expert" ranked chess player and he enjoys coaching youth sports.

Lisa R. Morrissey, joined IQS in February 2007 after spending most of her career at MFS Investment Management. With over 15 years of experience in technology and equities as director of equity technology and research operations and as quantitative research analyst, Lisa brings to IQS an expertise in developing systems to streamline processes as well as the ability to perform research on equity and non-equity products. Lisa has extensive exposure to building backtesting systems, and is proficient in many computer languages.

Lisa earned an MBA at Babson College, and a bachelor of science in electrical engineering at University of Vermont.

Lisa is a devoted athlete, having run marathons and competed in ironman events.
